Inimicus looked at the piece of paper in her hand. It was a mission statement, her first one. And it was with a partner. She groaned. Great. She had barely even seen anyone in their creepy family group thing, and she defiantly hadn’t met this Sakae. Oh well, nothing could be done about it. Now she had to just go find her-

“Hi!”

Inimicus whirled around, almost having a heartless attack when she saw a huge pair of blue eyes framed with green hair inches from her own face.

“Ah! Wh-who are you?”

“I’m Sakae, your partner for our mission. Nice to meet you!” The newly introduced Treasure Bat chimed.

“Uh…hello?” Inimicus was starting to worry for the other being’s state of mind. Weren’t heartless supposed to be…well, heartless? Morbid, depressing? The Strategist in front of her was anything but.

“Come on, come one! Lets go to my quarters, we can learn about each other there and decided how best to go about our mission.”

Inimicus warily followed Sakae as she was led through the dark halls. They finally stopped and went into one of the rooms. Sakae sat down, and motioned Inimicus to do the same. Just as the yellow eyed heartless was about to do the same, Sakae shouted at her to stop.

“Ah, sorry for yelling, but you were about to sit on Kyuru!” She lifted up a blanket and revealed a small black bat, which was sleepily watching the two. Sakae patted the tiny heartless on the head. “She would normally be up and about, but she’s not feeling well and won’t be joining us on the mission.” The green haired heartless’ face fell at this announcement, but she quickly grinned again. “Well, as the senior member of the group, how about you introduce yourself first?”

Inimicus took a moment to gather her thoughts. “Well, as you know, I’m Inimicus. I’ve been in Corrupted Hearts for a while now, but haven’t really done anything. I’m an Assassin Quill, and I use my quill pen with my power over ink. And I think that’s really all there is to say, so…your turn.”

The other member grinned. “My name is Sakae. I’ve done a few things around the group. I am a Strategist Treasure Bat. I use a gauntlet and my power is super hearing. Now that the introductions are over, let’s get down to figuring out what we are going to do!”

Inimicus leaned back in thought. “Well, we are supposed to do something with fireworks. With my ink we can make them colorful,” she closed her eyes. “and we better do something with the loud sound so it doesn’t hurt your ears.”

Sakae grinned. “So we make them look pretty and sound pretty? We can totally do that! Now come on, we are going to Twilight Town, and you can’t go looking like that! I might blend in, but you don’t even have normal legs! I think I have some costumes that may work for the occasion…” and the heartless jumped up, pulling Inimicus by her arm as she led them down another rocky hallway to get changed.

“Remember, we have to gather some hearts, that’s the whole purpose of the mission!” Inimicus told her, but her words were just lost in the rambling of her partner.


TWILIGHT TOWN


The two were now watching the brilliant sight of their work. Inimicus was wearing a red kimono with a pink obi while Sakae was wearing a blue one with a purple obi. The two both had pretty ornaments in their hair and if it weren’t for Sakae’s pointy ears and Inimicus’ black skin, they would have looked like normal travelers just passing through. Thankfully the kimono was long enough to cover up Inimicus’ lack of legs, and it was too dark for anyone to notice the trail of ink she left where ever she went.

Both heartless had spent hours working together on the fireworks and just chatting. The ever happy Treasure Bat had managed to get Inimicus to open up, and the purple haired Assassin’s surprise, she believed that she had found a friend in Sakae.

When the gorgeous sights and sounds had finally ceased, the two returned to the lair, please with their work.

CORRUPTED HEARTS LAIR

Sakae chirped out, “It was so fun!”

Inimicus had to agree, and added “The fire works were pretty!”

They could see the Founders staring at them. “Okay. So many hearts did you get?”

The two froze. They knew they had forgotten something.

“Uh…” Inimicus started,

“Zero?” Sakae ended.

All they could do was cower together while they awaited the wrath of their Founders.

MISSION FAILED.
